The desiccant material absorbs water vapor from compressed air. The filter in front of the dryer protects the dryer, and the filter after the dryer eliminates desiccant dust.
Desiccant dryers are usually equipped with two drying vessels, one for drying the inlet compressed air and the other for regeneration (similar to nitrogen generators), and the two vessels alternate running to complete the drying process.
